Welcome to Classic Home Inspections

Inspected Once, Inspected Right! ®

My name is Jim McKee, owner and inspector of Classic Home Inspections. Even a seller with the best of intentions can be unaware of problems with a home that, invisible now, may become serious liabilities in the future. A home inspection conducted by a qualified, unbiased third party can save you from a nightmare purchase or give you the leverage you need to have the problems addressed before closing. A quality inspection can pay for itself many times over.

But what is a quality inspection? Here in Ohio, home inspectors are not required to meet any special licensing requirements or standards. This means that if you aren't careful, the person you hire could have absolutely no construction background whatsoever. A home inspection is in no way a home warranty. Putting it in it's simplest form, a home inspection is nothing more than one person's opinion of a particular home at a set point in time. Would it then not be prudent to make sure the person whose opinion you are soliciting is qualified to do so? As a certified inspector with the International Association of Certified Home Inspectors, you have the assurance of the country's largest inspection association that I have demonstrated the skills and knowledge necessary to perform a quality inspection on your home.

Who Needs a Home Inspection?

Home Buyers:

Purchasing a home is the largest purchase most of us will ever make. It is a decision that can really help or hurt us financially. A thorough home inspection will at the very least give you peace of mind about your decision, and could potentially save you loads of money making countless repairs on defects you didn't see or budget for when viewing the home.

Home Sellers:

Today's home buyers are smart. More than likely they are going to insist on a thorough home inspection before the sale of your house is final. Do you really want to be caught off-guard at the last minute with a whole list of items that some inspector says need attention in your home? Of course not...you just want to close that sale and move on. Be prepared! Know the strong and weak points of your home up front so that you can choose to make the repairs necessary at your leisure or market the home as is and priced accordingly allowing the buyer to pick his own timing for the repairs and his own contractors. Knowing what the issues with your home are up front can save you a lot of time and money in the long run and showing a prospective buyer a recent home inspection with the recommended repairs made or budgeted for in the sales price can go a long way in prompting an offer on your home.

Getting Ready to Retire?

This is the perfect time to get a thorough home inspection. When we retire, most of us will be living on a fixed income. It happens way too often that shortly after retirement you find a major repair needed on your home that really blows the budget. Be ready for those leisure years and make sure your house is too. A home inspection before retirement can go a long way in making this possible.

Why Hire Me?

Although InterNACHI inspectors must meet stringent requirements, my expertise extends well beyond what you can learn in a book or a classroom. My 35+ years in the construction trades has given me a comprehensive understanding of homes, both new and old, making me uniquely qualified to assess the strengths and weaknesses of the property as a whole. Let me put that experience to work for you.

My Promise to You

Unlike most professionals, you probably will not get to meet me until after you hire me. Different inspectors have varying qualifications, equipment, experience and reporting methods, but one thing for sure is that a home inspection requires a lot of work. A thorough inspection depends heavily on the individual inspector's own effort. If you honor me by permitting me to inspect your new home, I guarantee that I will give you my very best effort and inspect the home as though I were purchasing it.
